Vital Tips to Make Your Family Vacation in Peru More Exciting and Pleasant

Peru, the home of the world-famous Machu Picchu, is one of the best off-the-track vacation spots in the world. This ancient land of Inca is amazingly beautiful and breathtaking and offers more than the historic sojourn of Machu Picchu.

If you are planning your next family vacation to an exciting destination, which is renowned for family oriented activities, surf vacations and rich culture then Peru should be your call. But there are certain tips which you must take note of before finalizing your itinerary:

Do not miss out on the Inca Trail – Get your pass in advance
If you are heading to Peru then the Inca trail should be on top of your itinerary. But all that excitement can fade away if you do not get the trail pass. Inca Trail passes are very limited and therefore you should book well in advance (at least 6-7 months). If you fail to get the pass, you can still take joy in the fact that you can see Machu Picchu by reaching Aguas Calientes via a train and gaining access to this Lost City.

Arrive early to adjust to the altitude
A trip to Peru is not complete if you do not experience some of the historic sites, like Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley and Cusco. But as these sites are at high altitude, it is recommended that you reach Peru in advance (usually a day) to acclimatize to the weather and condition and start your trail comfortably. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water during these sites’ trip, along with taking in light meals, Coca tea and minimizing alcohol and smoke.

Indulge in the exotic and extensive Peruvian food culture
As the center of the South American culinary world, the whole country is a food paradise, with each region known for its unique cuisine. You can judge the incredibility of the food culture by the fact that there are about 2000 varieties of potatoes, along with availability of every tropical vegetable or fruit you can imagine. The unique food culture is a result of the blend of tropical fruits, lean meats and ancient grains with different cultural traditions, like Inca, Chinese & Spanish. Creole Cuisine and specialized seafood delicacies are not to be missed.

Peru is a wonderful country, which is distinct from other tourist spots in the world and offers exotic and youthful cultural experience. From breathtaking trails, to eccentric cultural richness, adrenaline-pumping surfing and more, you will have a blasting time, which will take you to another level from what you have experienced with surf tours in El Salvador, or countryside tours of Nicaragua.
